Annual Meeting Grants for Boston 2012
The purpose of the Research Instruction and Patron Services Special Interest Section (RIPS-SIS) Annual Meeting Grant is to assist individuals with registration expenses for the American Association of Law Libraries Annual Meeting. Individuals chosen to receive a grant have the potential to make a significant contribution to law librarianship through their involvement with AALL and the RIPS-SIS. The grants are funded by the RIPS-SIS.
Six grants will be awarded; one for CONELL registration and five for AALL registration. Because RIPS-SIS is for all types of law librarians, the five AALL registration grants will be divided between five categories, as follows:
- law firm
- academic (two-one for technical services and one for public services)
Qualifications: AALL membership is required of all applicants. Preference will be given to applicants who are members of the RIPS-SIS at the time of application. However, membership in RIPS is not required. In the event that circumstances prevent the use of the grant by a grant recipient, the grant shall revert back to the RIPS-SIS. If a grant recipient receives an additional grant, the recipient must inform RIPS-SIS of the award and the amount, as RIPS reserves the right to withdraw the grant in this circumstance.
Grant Awards: The RIPS-SIS Annual Meeting Grant will cover full registration expenses for the AALL Annual Meeting. RIPS-SIS members will also receive an appointment to a RIPS-SIS committee. Non-members will receive a free one-year membership in RIPS-SIS and a committee appointment. In exchange for receiving grant funding, recipients will be required to write an article for the RIPS-SIS newsletter describing their impressions of the AALL Annual Meeting.
Deadline: Completed applications must be e-mailed by March 25, 2012 to the email address below. Email complete applications to: Lynn Murray, Chair, RIPS-SIS Grant Committee, Head of Research Services, Southern Methodist University, Underwood Law Library firstname.lastname@example.org.
